# commonconsole (comcon)

> commonconsole (comcon) is a self-hosted, point-in-time generation engine. Spin up an isolated Linux workspace with your choice of AI agent (Claude Code, Devin, MagicStride, Cursor, Codex, Gemini, Ollama), an operable Chromium/Firefox browser, a persistent Zellij web terminal, and desktop GUI apps on any cloud VPS or SSH host, drive it via text or voice, and hibernate it to object storage (~$5/mo) when done.

## Quick Install
- CLI Install: `curl -fsSL https://commonconsole.ai/install.sh | bash && comcon ~/my-engine`
- Complete LLM Corpus: [llms-full.txt](https://commonconsole.ai/llms-full.txt)

## Documentation
- [What comcon is](https://commonconsole.ai/docs/overview/): One container per user on your own VPS. Every surface is its own HTTPS subdomain, agents attach over SSH, and the whole host parks as a disk snapshot for about $1–2 a month.
- [Quickstart](https://commonconsole.ai/docs/quickstart/): Install the comcon CLI with curl or one agent prompt, then deploy your first workspace in a single conversation.
- [Building a custom image](https://commonconsole.ai/docs/generate/): Every workspace boots from one Containerfile you shape — pick the base OS, agent, browser, toolkits, and capabilities, and comcon validates the build before it ever ships.
- [Deploying to a host](https://commonconsole.ai/docs/deploy/): One deploy path, five compute targets — a DigitalOcean droplet, any SSH Debian host, your local machine, WSL2, or any other cloud's VM.
- [Operating day to day](https://commonconsole.ai/docs/operate/): Add users in one command, share directories between teammates, upgrade the image with zero coordination, and park the whole fleet when the workday ends.
- [Architecture and isolation](https://commonconsole.ai/docs/architecture/): Why one container per user, why only the browser is streamed, what the agent can and cannot reach, and how state survives the host being destroyed.

## Blog
- [Why carry local compute when your interface is just text?](https://commonconsole.ai/blog/why-rent-a-generation-engine/): Your path to billions of logic gates has narrowed to a line of text or a few seconds of voice. That changes what a computer needs to be.
- [Own the stack, swap the parts](https://commonconsole.ai/blog/own-the-stack-hibernate-the-bill/): Most agent sandboxes rent you a black box. comcon gives you the whole stack — your cloud, your agent, your browser, your data — and lets you change any layer.
- [Inside the snapshot-park lifecycle](https://commonconsole.ai/blog/inside-comcon-architecture/): A stopped cloud VM still bills you. comcon destroys it — and brings every file, session, and browser tab back byte-identical. Here is how.
